- daveknowstech: I'm finding #sailfishos to be verymuch like using Windows Mobile back in the day, where there were no apps avaialble, however when you found a gem of an app, it was usually better than the original one on android.Found a nice couple of dropin apps for youtube/youtube music, discord and hopefully an rss feeder..I have noted that there are some Android apps which just won't run, i tried Micro-G and that hasn't helped, however nothing i can't live without or run in the browser...I'm investigating the nextcloud integrations currently..#daveknowstech #linuxmobile

A highlight in this newletter is how to 3D print a new back cover for the Jolla C2!https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/sailfish-community-news-june-11-2026-3d-printing/29972Enjoy the read!@jolla #SailfishOSCommunity #sailfishos

With each of these apps I can delete one android app, keep android app support off for longer and leave my backup phone on the shelf. Some of the apps I was missing were LocalSend, HomeAssistant and a background Ntfy service.#SailfishOS
- ilpianista: #SailfishOS provides several solutions for (ad|tracker)-blocking (there's a long thread on the forum if you want to know more) however IMHO none of these is perfect. Time ago I went for Blocky, which again isn't a perfect solution, but works enough for me and the just released version on OpenRepos provides a cover action to temporary disable blocking ⏰

- sd: One kind of unique aspect about the way I approached this is that I first had Claude adapt the m1n1 hypervisor from the Asahi Linux project with the goal to trace any memory access from downstream. So I am actually able to boot into #ubuntutouch running inside a VM with tracing via serial. That helped to validate that the new code actually does the same as downstream. The approach is not perfect though. The UART is very slow, the VM runs only with a single CPU core.
- sd: "So I’ve been quiet for a bit about my progress running #ubuntutouch on the Google Pixel 9a. The reason is that I mostly enjoy experimenting with new stuff, so after I got call audio working, I wasn’t too keen to work on polishing the details. Instead, I wanted to see if I can use the LLM subscription from work to run (close to) mainline on it, since that’s something genuinely new. After hacking on it for the last couple of weeks, #postmarketOS now boots with DRM and touchscreen. #mobilelinux"
- fredldotme: "More progress on Snaps for Ubuntu Touch:I've enabled snapd to support our Lomiri environment better, improved the lomiri-ui-toolkit-core24 Snap, and fixing some issues on Touch as well to integrate them. Lately we gained:- Background music and hardware-accelerated video playback using Media Hub- Support for mediascanner and thumbnailer-service- Splash images- Better support for Wayland, Mirclient, and X11- And of course the camera"
- fredldotme: "@Luigi311 for those situations we're in the process of working on XDG Desktop Portals for Lomiri. Once this is available (will definitely take some time) a file picker would show the desktop's native dialog, with a Lomiri-looking file selector and Content Hub accessor on Lomiri."
- fredldotme: "Less related to Ubuntu Touch, more to Snaps:I've finally released an app I've wanted to share for years: Beat The Score, a music instrument learning programBeat The Score allows you to play along your favorite .gp5 files with your MIDI keyboard or guitar, showing you how well you play it and helping you hit the notes better. This was my diploma project at school 10 years ago, and I decided to release it under the GPLv2+. For more information:https://snapcraft.io/beatthescore"
- fredldotme: "More related to Ubuntu Touch:I did the finishing touches and snapping on my beloved docked Fairphone 5, and tested it successfully to work once a few modifications for MIDI in the kernel were in. I'll try to enable the necessary flags in the FP5 kernel.Audio analysis of guitars should also work, but I haven't been able to test this yet."
