Worth Noting
- pojntfx: The German govt is rolling out a digital driver's license:https://www.heise.de/news/Digitaler-Fuehrerschein-kommt-Ende-November-11509430.htmlAnd, from day 1 - in 2026, yes - it only works on OS images allowlisted by two American companies, Google and Apple. Sanctioned by the US government, like e.g. the ICC judges? Can't use your German digital driver's license. In any sane society this would have been flagged as a massive issue and have simply stopped the app from launching in the first place.

- kersnazzle_kersnazzle: Something I was thinking about while poking my Pixel 3a this afternoon is how cheap and accessible #Nura has made getting a fully functional computer. I bought my Pixel3a for £65 and for that I get 2 camera sensors, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a touch screen, Wi-Fi, headphone jack, assorted sensors, USB charging, bluetooth, terminal and a lovely UI from #Phosh , a snappy OS courtesy of #Nura and more apps than I have time to look at. Gateway drug I tell you! 😀

- Linux: Walt is a "tap-to-pay for the rebels" - mobile phones with Graphene OS (and Sailfish OS) will benefit. No more Apple Pay or Google ✌️ 1st steps have been taken to achieve this - but many challenges still lay ahead.Partnerships are now signed. Walt’s architectural diagram is a first for the industry. Walt convinced 4 different parties to work together, several of which had never heard of the other....Last contract was vitally important to guarantee compatibility between Walt and Graphene OS. It was slow; they had to learn what exactly Graphene is. The legal contract was eventually reached.Read more 👉 https://walt.is/updates#final-partner-signed#Walt #taptopay #mobile #Linux #NFC #GrapheneOS #SailfishOS #banking

- valpackett: Continuing the "week of random UI work": sent patches to Confy updating it to modern adaptive dialogs!I haven't even had a chance to actually use Confy in practice yet because local events don't tend to publish schedules in any machine readable format lolsob but I like fidgeting with random apps on my #Nura phone and seeing non-mobile-friendly UX annoys me every time#GNOME #libadwaita #mobilelinux #linuxmobile
- valpackett: This sure was one of the weekends of all time. After presenting remotely at the Qubes OS summit, went to the Flashparty, of course by bike, and decided to take the scenic route back through the coastline (ow ouch the wind resistance lmao)… came back, slept for uhhh not many hours, woke up, started dicking around on the phone scrolling flathub among other things and the @schmiddionmobile Railway app caught my attention once again and—I just suddenly decided you know what, screw it, I'm making it useful for my area now and writing a Trenes Argentinos backend so. Uh. Several hours of good old artisanal hand coding later it kinda works!! At least it replicates the experience of the official mobile app, on (mobile) Linux. Please don't look at the code, it brings too much shame to my country ><#GNOME #mobilelinux #argentina
