Worth Noting
- papiris: Igalia is a workers cooperative, so I'm happy to know that the graphics driver for my #linuxMobile is developed by a democratic, worker-owned business There's an ongoing petition in Germany about legally recognizing volunteering for free/libre/open source projects as 'volunteering for the common good'!This would give volunteering for free software projects the same legal status as volunteering for youth associations, or staying home to take care of an elderly family member. This gives tax benefits, and (if I understand correctly) eases requirements for receiving unemployment benefits. Could you give it a look? - opensourceopenmind: Unfortunately, switching to alternatives is simply not enough; we also need to be unavailable on SMS, Whatsapp and other proprietary platforms. Using a data SIM on #LinuxMobile, I have managed to onboard many people, over a hundred, to #FOSS messengers. Before when I preached freedom and #privacy, there'd always be resistance. Now people just accept that WA, SMS, etc are simply not an option and they readily hop on to alternatives if they need to reach me. #DeltaChat #Matrix #XMPP #SignalMessenger #MobileLinux #Librem5 #digitalprivacy #FreeSoftware #OpenSource #e2ee
- @janvlug: Source #Phoronix:Experimental #Wayland protocols additions are for expanding on the existing text-input and input-method protocols. This experimental text-input protocol is text-input-unstable-v3. @dcz started it based on the existing text-input protocol with a goal of improving this protocol. Dorota is being funded by @nlnet support. Also a new popup interface based on XDG-Popup is being worked on. https://www.phoronix.com/news/Wayland-Protocols-1.46 #FOSS #OpenSource #Linux #MobileLinux #TextInput

- #UbuntuTouch: The EU (that includes France) should embrace and support projects like #GrapheneOS rather than criminalize them. If we want to achieve digital sovereignty, we need to make sure that alternatives to Google and Apple can flourish. Also, Linux on Mobile is becoming increasingly viable (#ubuntutouch , #postmarketos, #mobian, etc.). These alternatives are not quite as mature (or secure, for that matter) as GrapheneOS, but they definitely deserve attention and funding.
