Worth Noting
- @MadameMalady: What do my fellow linux mobile nerds think of the FuriPhone / FuriOS that was announced like, last month?Saw it and immediately remembered the JingPad / JingOS combo that disappeared as most of us predictedAnd what abt libhybris and halium? Is that a valid way to be approaching the linux / arm64 drivers issue, or no?Idk, geekout at me and tell me your thoughts on this#linux #linuxmobile
- @pabloyoyista: So thanks to @rmader@mastodon.social we managed to get the front camera in the Pixel 3a working with a libcamera/pipewire stack 🥳 Thanks to @flamingradian for the work on the whole port!EDIT: The driver does not properly release the camera when closing the app, so it only works once per boot. It would be lovely if anybody with the skills would like to contribute to improve it!https://gitlab.com/sdm670-mainline/linux/-/merge_requests/1#postmarketOS #LinuxMobile #Pixel3a #Snapshot #GNOME #GUADEC
- @dcz: Biegi now works also on your favorite #linuxmobile !You can check out how the #bike cassette you're seeing in the shop is going to work for you - without coming back home!As long as it's CS-HG51. cough.https://framagit.org/dcz/biegi
- @justsoup: For anybody curious on the issues / annoyances I have found with #iced on #postmarketOS, and thus I assume the larger #MobileLinux ecosystem, here is a list:- Scrolling has no form of inertia.- Text input doesn't automatically pull up the osk- Text can sometimes go off screen if it is specifically written to maintain a certain box size.- Redrawing requires a refresh, so when lowering the osk the window displays an empty portion of green in the reclaimed area for about 0.1 to 0.15 seconds.
- @greytheearthling: @left_adjoint Yeah. The device is perfectly capable of being that, but then capitalism intervenes.I think we're almost reaching the point where #LinuxMobile is becoming an attractive non-hostile alternative for people who would otherwise choose a non-smart phone.Give it a few years, and I think a phone pre-installed with #postmarketOS would work well enough for tech-unenthusiasts to actually like it.(🐧 Posted from my Linux phone)

- postmarketOS (Mastodon): Come see us at #fossy2024 from the 1st to 4th of August @ #pdx (Portland, US), @craftyguy and @anjan will be showing off Linux Mobile and postmarketOS on a bunch of phones and old laptops. Plus our latest and greatest #systemd support!

- #UbuntuTouch: F(x)tec Pro¹ X finally arrived. It was sitting in a warehouse for ages, but thankfully the battery was not dead and it powered up. Shipped with Android, but in about 10 minutes work with the UBports installer, had Ubuntu Touch up and running. Yay!Yes the slide-out keyboard is a bit fiddly, but it seems worth a try and is no worse than a miniature on-screen keyboard.UB usually takes a few days to get configured right.
