postmarketOS Blog: Adding systemd to postmarketOS This is great news, IMHO! OpenRC stays on - it remains default for, e.g., Sxmo and will remain an option in pmboostrap for everything, but systemd will be default where that makes lives easier. I am very sure that this would not be done if this would not make the task of making postmarketOS a great experience easier - meaning: It's apparently easier to get systemd running on musl, than putting in the work to make all the shims/polyfills for GNOME or KDE Plasma work at all/even well. I believe it's good to see postmarketOS as the mainline Mobile Linux project that supports the most devices become closer to what most Linux users are used to, not to mention features like cgroups and homed, that will definitely help building something competitive Thumbs Up!

Weekly GNU-like Mobile Linux Update (02/2024): Plasma 6 rc1, Phosh 0.35.1, and WiFi/BT progress2024-01-14T20:09:48+00:002024-01-14T20:09:48+00:00https://linmob.net/weekly-update-02-2024/
Aside from progress regarding the next releases of major desktop environments (that always provide some goodies for mobile), this week saw improvements on WiFi/BT things on Sailfish OS, but also some promising work towards a mainline-able rtl8723cs driver, the infamous WiFi/BT solution of the OG AllWinner A64-powered PinePhone. Also: libcamera 0.2.0, a progress report on KDE PIM, Mobian on the Fairphone 5, and a postmarketOS progress report.

If your project's cool story (or your awesome video or nifty blog post or ...) is missing and you don't want that to happen again, please just put it into the hedgedoc pad for the next one! Since I am collecting many things there, this get's you early access if you will ;-) If you just stumble on a thing, please put it in there too - all help is appreciated!
